Don't Forget Your Children

It's one of the saddest stories I've ever heard. A father was to drop off his infant child at daycare on the way to work, but his mind was preoccupied and he forgot. Left alone in the car, the baby girl died from the excessive heat. The father will bear that painful memory the rest of his life.

Mr. Eternity

Eternity! Is there any concept more awesome? Our minds simply can't grasp the idea of endless existence.

Overcoming The Resistance

If you've ever tried to water-ski, you know how the water seems to resist you before you get up on the surface. The boat's engine roars, your muscles strain, and the water does everything it can to keep you down. But if you know how to take advantage of the boat's power, you are lifted up and within a few seconds you are skimming over the surface of the same water that held you back at first.

No Joke!

I have heard that humor is sometimes used to deal with important things we don't really understand. If that's true, I can see why there are so many jokes about heaven.

Love The Brothers

In his book Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home, Richard Foster tells of an old sage who asked his disciples, "How can we know when the darkness is leaving and the dawn is coming?" "When we can see a tree in the distance and know that it is an elm and not a juniper," one student responded. "When we can see an animal and know it is a fox and not a wolf," replied another.

Who's The Builder Of Your House?

The S. C. Johnson & Son Building in Racine, Wisconsin, has been labeled "the greatest piece of 20th-century architecture in America." Its magnificent half-acre "Great Workroom" has a 3-story skylighted ceiling that produces an ever-shifting interplay of light and shadows.

Everyday Blessings

Missionary Benjamin Weir was held hostage in Lebanon and imprisoned under miserable conditions for 16 months. In his first interview after his release, he was asked how he spent his time and how he dealt with boredom and despair. His answer stunned the reporters. He simply said, "Counting my blessings."

Bad Sinners Made Good

Pastor Harry Ironside asked a man if he was sure he was going to heaven. "No, I can't say that I am," the man answered, "but I would like to be."

Poor Trade-Offs

Life is full of trade-offs. Today's poor choices are a down payment on tomorrow's problems. It's all a part of living with the law of God that says we reap what we sow (Gal. 6:7).
